#WomenOutdoors Week

WomenOutdoors

To observe or be observed, that is the question

Have you got a Mountain Training qualification? Would you be prepared to have an aspiring female instructor observe you for a day? Or are you working your way through a scheme and in need of some new ideas? The aim of #WomenOutdoors week is to boost female participation in outdoor activities and in order to sustain it, we need more females with qualifications. So this is the perfect opportunity to observe someone working or let someone observe you.

Our Women in Mountain Training Facebook group is a good place to start if you're looking to observe someone or happy to be observed yourself. Use #WomenOutdoors in the group to invite people to observe you or ask to observe someone else. Or better still, if you know someone, just ask them! Men are more than welcome to join the group to support this initiative too.

What else is going on?

#WomenOutdoors Week is designed to get more women into and sticking with climbing, mountaineering and hill walking.

Activity providers across England and Wales are offering all sorts of opportunities to get active, from buy one get one free on climbing wall entry to women-only sessions and family-friendly walks. Check out what's going on near you:

London and the South of England

Wales and North West England

Is it too late for activity providers to offer something?

Probably not, but the sooner the better. Get in touch with Jo Rowbottom from the BMC to discuss your plans: Joanna@thebmc.co.uk, 0161 4383313.
