Good Practice Safety Management Conference

Good practice and safety management The Mountain Training Association is hosting its first ever good practice and safety management conference on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th November at the conference facilities Lancaster University.

It is open to all MTA members and we may be joined by members of AMI, BAIML or BMG. Participants in the conference who could be categorised as ‘micro providers’ can also opt to be the first mountaineering providers to gain accreditation for their activities under the badge of Mountain Training and Adventuremark.

The weekend is aimed in particular at small businesses and sole traders and will cover all aspects of good practice in safety management from an independent provider’s perspective. It will also be useful for anyone in a position of responsibility for the safety management of their organisation.

The operating procedures for your business will include items such as late return policy, emergency procedures, risk assessments, recording and inspecting equipment. Mountain Training will provide you with templates and draft documents and advise you on how to ensure you have everything you need in place.

Key speakers include Gavin Howat CMIOSH, HM Inspector of Health and Safety for the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority, John Armstrong and Iain Peter from Adventuremark, Steve Howe, Senior Consultant Adventure Activity Associates and John Cousins, Cheif Executive Officer of Mountain Training UK.

There will be presentations on everything from setting up a business, contract law, legislation, adequate and relevant insurance, contracts and technical support.

The event will take place at the conference facilities of Lancaster University and this all inclusive weekend is being offered at a special rate of £200, the cost of any subsequest events will be higher so don't miss this one off opportunity and take advantage of being part of this new initiative.

There are a maximum of 75 places at this event and we expect a high demand so to avoid disapointment book early! The weekend will give you 2 CPD points.

The residential package includes B&B Friday and Saturday night, lunch and evening meal on Saturday, hot lunch and take away sandwiches on Sunday.
