CALLING ALL OUR EXPERT MEMBERS!
Here at the Mountain Training Association (MTA) we are looking to use our social media platforms to profile the expertise and calibre of our members as part of a larger publicity campaign to raise the profile of Mountain Training’s association and its members to other organisations involved in walking, climbing and mountaineering as well as the public at large.
To that end we are looking for members to send us either: information and images on a
specific area of expertise (such as
flora, fauna, geology, sustainability, weather, navigation, rope skills, equipment, etc.) that we can then use to promote that member and also illustrate the skills and knowledge within the MTA membership; or member profiles outlining who a member is, their background, skill set, experience, qualifications, etc. as well as how to get in touch and what the public would use them for.
For the expertise posts we are looking for any specific piece of information, knowledge or research relating to walking, climbing and/or mountaineering, and/or their environments that you have that would be of interest to the wider public. The idea is that these bitesize pieces of information and images will draw people in, so, as with most things in social media,
THE ODD, THE UNUSUAL, or THE UNEXPECTED is a good pull) and get them to see what MTA members have to offer in terms of expertise, knowledge and skills.
The general member profile is more along the
human-interest line. We would be looking for your route into leadership, coaching, instruction or guiding in walking, climbing and/or mountaineering. How you came to be involved in this area of work, past-time or volunteering, where you came from, what motivates you and what you want people to gain from the experience of being lead, coached, instructed or guided by you. What you personally bring to the table and anything that singles you out.
If you’re interested in submitting something for either of these, then please send up to
3 or 4 good quality photos, short videos clips (very short) or illustrations along with text of around 150-200 words, and we can format these as posts to go out onto the MTA Instagram and Facebook Page:
Facebook page: Mountain Training Association
Instagram: @mt_association
Twiiter: @mt_association
Please also include links to either Instagram accounts or Facebook pages/profiles that we can include in the post (unfortunately both Instagram and Facebook don’t like links that take you away from their platform, so individual member/company websites may not work particularly well, but we’ll find ways to include them if we can). We will then work through and post those we receive in order of receipt or if information/profiles are complimentary and work together.
If you would like to be featured either within a specialist expertise/knowledge post or a general member profile, then please email:
mike@mountain-training.org with your idea or an outline.
