The Met Office want to understand how this learning might influence your decsion making process after the training and will circulate a questionaire which we encourage you to complete in order to support their research.
Delivered by a team of experts from the Met Office, headed up by Dr. Mike Reading, Senior Operational Meteorologist from the Met Office in Aberdeen.

"This was an excellent day led by a very knowledgeable trainer. I liked Mike's clear style of delivery and the progression of information thorughout the day. The group working allowed consolidation of the previous topic. I feel much better informed about meteorology and it was very good that the material was linked to our work as mountain leaders ~ Jon Dallimore, December 2023

The Met Office are keen to engage with our member community to reach walkers and climbers of the mountain, moorland and lowland user community, who can pass on information to help the public understand how to use the forecast information provided; enabling them to make informed decisions whilst enjoying their time in the great outdoors.
These sessions have been carefully designed to support the syllabi of Mountain Training's qualifications as well as to enhance the knowledge of qualified leaders and instructors. They are all about the practical application of information gained from weather forecasts during the planning stage and dynamically whilst out in the hills and mountains.

"An excellent workshop and I particularly enjoyed the tour of the Met Office!" ~ Tania Deacon, Sept 2022

"Having two experts in their field, as well as being keen mountaineers / climbers, meant the session was really well targeted at the intended audience, they obviously are experts in the field of weather forecasting, but being able to tailor that knowledge to what mountaineers would want to know made the session very, very good. Thank you." ~ Robin Partington, April 2022.

Each year we change the locations of these specialist workshops in order to engage with different members across the UK. This year we are also delighted to be able to offer two online opportunites increasing the number of workshops to eight
