Leader of the Month

February

February saw some strong nominations for Leader of the Month and after convening our panel of experts we can now announce...

February's Leader of the Month is...

Susan Lindsay

"For over 20 years Susan has been a voluntary leader inspiring others; mainly young people, to get involved in outdoor activity. Based in Liverpool she began her 'Leadership career' when she noticed that girls at the inner city school she works at were, in her words "not doing anything". Susan gained her Mountain Leader and Single Pitch Award. And ever since, has been inspiring young people by leading expeditions, climbing activities and summer camps in the UK and in the European Alps. As well as these activities, she has also trained new young leaders."

Susan is also a qualified International Mountain Leader, teacher and voluntary civilian instructor with her local ATC. She was nominated by Frank Edwards.

Special mention also goes to...

Julia Lewis

"She's so passionate about what she does that she has inspired me to become a D of E leader when I'm older and I don't think I could even come close to following in her footsteps."

Julia Lewis is a Mountain Leader based in south Devon. She works as a teacher at Churston Ferrers Grammar School and was nominated by Beth Smith, one of her students.

Each month's winner will receive a year's free membership of the Mountain Training Association and a Sherpa technical fleece.

To nominate someone for Leader of the Month, email nicola@mountain-training.org and explain, in 200 words or less, why you think they deserve to win. 'Leaders' can be anyone with a Mountain Training award.
