You are invited to ‘have your say’ on the climbing coaching awards that are administered by Mountain Training.
The survey will be available online from the 7th March to 11th April - please take as long as you require to decide whether to take part.
What is the purpose of the research?
Aim: To conduct a comprehensive review of the current climbing awards for Mountain Training.
Objectives:- To gain feedback on the content and scope of current awards.
- To identify the pathway of development for climbing instructors.
- To gain greater understanding on the use of the current awards.
- To identify the challenges faced by climbing instructors in our training schemes.
- To make recommendations to Mountain Training in relation to the development and refinement of climbing awards in the UK.
What will you be asked to do?
You will be asked to complete a short, 4-part questionnaire which should take approximately 15 minutes either as an individual or on behalf of an organisation. The focus of these questions will be to collect basic profile information, understand your practice as a climbing instructor or organisation and your development.
What are the anticipated benefits of participating in the research?
The results will be used to better inform the training of climbing instructors and coaches.
Are there any risks associated with participating in the research?
There are no risks associated with this survey.
Do you have to take part?
No. Participation is entirely voluntary.
What happens if you change your mind and want to withdraw?
If at any time you wish to withdraw, you may do so immediately by closing the survey or simply leaving it incomplete. Once you click ‘SUBMIT’ you will have given your consent for your data to be used, under the conditions described. Once you have clicked ‘SUBMIT’ you will not be able to withdraw your responses.
Will I be paid for participating in the research?
Your involvement in this project is voluntary. However, once you have completed the questionnaire you will be asked to provide your email address should you wish to be included in a prize raffle for a chance to win a range of prizes donated by
Sherpa Adventure Gear.
What will happen to the information collected as part of the study?
All data will be stored securely for five years. Stored data will be confidential and accessible only to the researchers involved.
Data and findings will form part of a report for Mountain Training and may be included for journal publication and/or conference presentation, or used in text books or related magazines with Mountain Training’s permission.
Your email address, should you provide it for the prize draw, will be removed from any response data, stored separately and deleted following completion of the study.
Who has reviewed the study?
The project has been approved by the University of Central Lancashire Ethics Committee.
Will I be contacted to take part in any future research?
We may be interested in conducting follow up research. If you are prepared to be part of follow up studies, please write your email address when prompted at the end of the survey.
