Employers and members of the public may wish to confirm that an individual holds one or more of the qualifications listed above. In this instance the following options exist, in order of reliability:
1. Ask the individual to log in to their CMS account and show you their qualifications.
Look for:
- The name of the individual.
- The gold badge(s) shown above. If you or they hover over the gold badge it will show the date the assessment was passed.
- A photo of the individual if there is one uploaded.
or Ask the individual to share their DLOG (digital logbook) with you.
You will need to:
- Create an account on our system or log in if you already have one.
- Check the gold badges as described above; or
- Click on the ‘Schemes’ tab to view any completed training courses or assessments they have passed.
2. Ask the individual to show you their certificate.
Since 1st January 2014 we have issued printed certificates.
Look for:
- A hologram of our logo in the bottom right-hand corner.
- A heat reactive spot on the back.
3. Ask the individual to show you the pass page from their paper logbook.
Prior to 2014, candidates received a training sticker upon completion of a training course and an assessment sticker if the candidate has passed assessment.
You can also use one of the first options to check for membership of an association:
Mountain Training Association Association of Mountaineering Instructors British Association of International Mountain Leaders British Association of Mountain Guides
If the individual completed training or assessment prior to our records going digital, there is a slim chance they have evidence of gaining one of our qualifications which is not recorded on our system. In this instance we recommend the individual get in touch with our office to correct their record: email
info@mountain-training.org or call 01690 720272.
We cannot share information about individuals’ qualifications without their consent, unless it is an urgent or an emergency situation as defined by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
